Drooping Eyelids? Excess Eyelid Skin?

Let Us Help You Look Better — and See Better

Lee Mielcarek, MD, FACS, Medical Director of Mielcarek Eye Associates, performs a variety of plastic surgery procedures to correct droopy eyelids, excess eyelid skin, or eyelids that turn inward or outward. Here are some of the conditions that Dr. Mielcarek can correct:

Excess eyelid skin
Because eyelid skin is the thinnest skin of the body, it tends to stretch over time. In the upper lids it can interfere with side vision. In the lower lids it can cause bags. Blepharoplasty is the procedure used to remove the excess skin.

Ectropion and entropion
Ectropion is the outward turning, while entropion is the inward turning, of the lower eyelid. Both are caused by stretching of the eyelid skin with age. Other causes may be eyelid burns, skin disease, or infection and scarring inside the eyelid. Besides affecting appearance, these conditions can cause eye dryness, tearing, redness, light sensitivity, or infection. Surgery can correct both ectropion and entropion.
