Why We Use the LADARVision System for LASIK
LADARVision is an advanced excimer laser system designed to give each patient the best possible result. LADARVision is different
from all other excimer laser systems, because it combines the only patented laser radar eye tracker with a unique small spot laser beam, in order
to increase the accuracy of the surgery.
Our eyes constantly make small, rapid movements that are beyond our control. Since eye movement during LASIK can compromise
laser beam placement accuracy, the LADARTracker was developed to accurately track eye movements during surgery, so you do not have to
worry about holding your eye absolutely still. Here are some frequently asked questions about LADARVision:
What eye conditions can LADARVision treat?
It is approved for a broad range of indications, which means it can treat almost everyone
who is nearsighted, nearsighted with astigmatism, farsighted, farsighted with astigmatism, and those with both regular and mixed astigmatism.
How does the LADARVision tracker differ from other eye tracking systems?
It is the only laser radar tracker. All others are video based.
The LADARTracker samples eye movement at 4,000 times per second, while video-based trackers sample eye movement between 60 and 250 times per
second. Only LADARVision has expanded FDA-approved claims for improved accuracy in corneal shaping.
What benefit does the LADARVision small spot laser beam provide?
Guided by the tracker, the LADARVision small spot laser beam offers
such versatility that virtually any treatment pattern is possible.
What are the odds of eliminating my dependence on eyeglasses or contact lenses?
A thorough eye exam will help us predict the results you
may expect. Your final outcome will depend on a number of factors, including the amount of correction you need. Most patients are pleased with
their results, have improved vision, and therefore have reduced or eliminated their dependence on eyeglasses and/or contact lenses.
Is there a chance that my vision could be made worse?
LASIK, like any medical procedure, has some risks. We will make you
fully aware of any risks and complications of LASIK prior to you giving your consent for surgery.
